Spongebob: Childhood Laughs
I was one of the lucky kids to grow up and be surrounded by Spongebob Squarepants, making it a comfort viewing show for me and many of my peers. Spongebob is known by teenagers around the globe for his unique humor, high-pitched laugh, and good energy. The show’s iconic characters and little-known humor made a show that would put you in a good mood every time it came on the television. The show is so famous that many teens will look at you strangely if you say you haven’t heard of it.
Part of what makes me enjoy the show so much is its characters. In Spongebob there are no bad guys, all characters are seen as equals and all characters are shown in different ways every episode. You never find yourself getting bored because in one episode you may see a character doing something wrong while in another you would find out why they were doing something wrong in the first place. No one character is better than another and it allows everyone to have their own favorite character.
Another strength in Spongebob is its environment. The show’s setting is extremely versatile. Anything is possible in the show and any idea can be implemented. The show’s versatility is what made it last so long and made every episode so special in its own way. There is no set plot or story to follow and you can tune in at any point whenever you are in the mood.
A third factor in why the cartoon is so perfect is its nostalgia. Adults and teeagers who enjoyed the show growing up still can sit through an episode and enjoy some of what they experienced as a kid. The show has stood the test of time and it isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
Overall, I still, as a junior in high school, find the show pretty funny, which is a pretty difficult task considering the state of most children’s shows nowadays. I wouldn’t be surprised if it will still be airing years from now so that kids all over the world can have the same experience we had the privilege of having. That is why Spongebob Squarepants is my favorite TV show of all time
