Some students at FC are leaving during the lunch period and are walking to McDonalds and other fast food places. This can be dangerous for the students- things like traffic and walking by themselves could be a kidnap risk. It’s also against school policy.
Some students also order via the McDonalds app or with Grubhub for the food to be delivered to them. However, if the students order food it will be delivered to the main office where it is turned away. According to a main office staffer, “We do not allow them (door dash delivery drivers) to come near the main office.”
It could be a risk to let an unknown person into the school and for kids to leave school. It is also a risk for students to leave school and come back. FCPS SRR says that students can searched when they return to school.
Assistant Principal Sean Rolon said, “So students are not allowed to leave school grounds without permission. It is a safety concern because if you leave school grounds we as the school are responsible for you and we don’t know where you are so when students do leave school grounds and return we do search them. We also talk with them about the dangers of being out of school because it impacts them academically, but we also don’t know where they are and we follow up with their parents and make sure their parents are aware.”
