The Washington Redskins playoff run falls short

The Washington Redskins finished their surprising regular season at 9-7. They were the NFC East champions! They got the fourth seed in the NFC playoff bracket and had to play the Green Bay Packers, a very good team led by veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Packers were a very experienced playoff team and the Redskins lacked experience in the postseason. It was a shame the Redskins season had to come to an end Sunday, January 10th.

While there is potential on the defensive side for Washington, fans can also look toward a bright future with Cousins despite an up and down playoff debut.

He didn’t get much help from the offensive line throughout, he was sacked six times and that pressure led to his worst moments. When protected, Cousins made it happen, even calling his own number on a big rushing touchdown to take the lead early in the third.

Cousins may not have been able to leave the field chanting “You like that” , but considering he wasn’t even the presumed starter until late in the preseason, a 9-7 division winning year is still surpassing expectations for the 2015 Washington Redskins season.

As a lifelong Redskins fan, I can not wait so see what my hometown team can bring me in the next upcoming years. The Redskins have a bright future ahead especially with our new General Manager, Scot McCloughan. He is a great team leader and he definitely knows talent when he sees it. This whole season was an exciting experience from shocking the whole league with a division title to now knowing we have a potential franchise quarterback. The Redskins have the 21st overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and I’m excited to see who they take. What an overall exciting season and the future of the Redskins is opening eyes in the NFL world.

As the season comes to an end, I’m looking back on it with my head up. We were supposed to be in last place in the NFC East and contend for the first overall pick. But, we were a playoff team with a winning record in the regular season going 9-7 and also contending in the playoffs for a Super Bowl ring. In my opinion, this is just a little taste of what is up and coming in the future of these talented men. Out of this experience, they should have their head held high and be proud to be part of this historic Redskins team. Hail to the Redskins!
