Netflix has been planning to raise the price of its most popular deal plan on its platform which consists of letting the customer run Netflix on four screens simultaneously and gives you 4k video quality, rather than the standard plans two screens. Subscribers or customers of the plan will see the plan rise from $11.99 to $13.99 just rising $2. But the price of the normal plan ($7.99) will stay the same.
It has been raising the price for new Netflix subscribers the raise of price will happen in the span of seven months. The streaming provider for Netflix said, “From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we add more exclusive TV shows and movies, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience to help members find something great to watch even faster.” Netflix had a price increase in Oct 2015 and their sub base has grown from 44.7 million to 52.7 million at the end of September.
Netflix also gives a great feature as it lets people download episodes or movies that they are able to watch offline whenever and wherever on any devices like a smart phone or a tablet. “This price increase was not surprising as Netflix has increased costs to make its original shows,” says Tuna Amobi, an equity analyst at investment research firm CFRA.”If you backtrack over the last couple years, obviously, the content costs have grown and there’s a lot to be said about the program quality that they have added to the platform,” he said.
