New Language Teachers Arrive at Falls Church
October 24, 2016
It’s the start of the new school year, and most of us are only thinking about new classes, saying goodbye to an action-packed summer, and working hard toward achieving new goals! But we might just forget something really important: getting to know the new teachers at Falls Church High School. I had the opportunity to talk to some of the new language teachers that have arrived at Falls Church High School, Ms. Cutini (English 11 and 12) and Ms. Lawless (Japanese)
Ms. Cutini had attended Muhlenberg College, which is located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She has also been teaching for a total of 15 years so far, starting from 2001. She also enjoys reading; her favorite books are The Great Gatsby and the Harry Potter series. Binge watching Netflix is something she does too, and she is currently enjoying Orange is the New Black, and is interested in watching Stranger Things! Her favorite football team is the Chica- go Bears, but her favorite baseball team has to be the New York Yankees, since she was born and raised in North Jersey.
She also enjoys any type of food that is Italian, she said that she really loves peanut butter and chocolate, so if we would like to drop some Reese’s chocolate on her desk that it would be welcomed! She also said that she looks forward to the new school year and is really enjoying her stay so far at Falls Church High School! So feel free to stop by her room and talk to her if you have any English-related questions, or just to say hello!
Another teacher I had the opportuni- ty to talk to was Ms. Lawless, who has been teaching Japanese for eight years so far. Ms. Lawless is from Kyoto, Japan and she gradu- ated from Kansai Gaidai University in Osa- ka, Japan. Some of her hobbies include going on long runs, and hiking! When I asked if she had any expectations for the new school year, she answered that she would like to stay healthy, enjoy teaching and learning with students here at Falls Church. Something she said she would like us to know is that the teachers and staff at Falls Church are all very friendly, and she looks forward to studying Japanese with her students!
Having new teachers at Falls Church could be a little intimidating, but if we got to know them a little better we can see that they can become great friends! So if you see a new teacher in the halls don’t be afraid to say hello!
