The NFL Draft Recap

If you were ready to order a Lamar Jackson Patriots jersey like I was, you must be surely disappointed right now.

On Thursday, the 2018 NFL Draft kicked off at   AT&T Stadium, in the beautiful city of Dallas, Texas. Many media members and opposing general managers were frustrated to see that newly hired Browns G.M John Dorsey refused to indicate who he was going to draft with the first pick, leading to many media outlets to falsely report that either stud running back Saquon Barkley or quarterback Sam Darnold would be chosen with the first pick.  The Browns then proceeded to shock the world and draft Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Mayfield in my opinion, is the second best quarterback in this years draft class behind Josh Rosen, but he’s a good fit for Cleveland as they need a competitive guy to help them out after going 0-16 last year.

Some of the biggest shocks of the draft were the Browns selecting Ohio State’s star cornerback Denzel Ward fourth overall instead of Bradley Chubb, UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen falling to the Arizona Cardinals, a team that was most likely to draft Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson,  coveted Florida State safety Derwin James falling all the way to the L.A Chargers at pick 17, The Saints made one of the boldest moves in the draft, trading away their first round pick from next year to the Packers and selected Marcus Davenport, a player who the Saints exactly needed. He’s a strong, sturdy, athletic 6”6’ edge rusher who can make big plays . He has a chance to be a difference-maker in their front seven and be a terror on NFC South Offensive Lines alongside with Cameron Jordan.

Honestly, the real winner of the draft were the Baltimore Ravens, they traded down and ended up with the final pick in the first round that belonged to the Super Bowl Champions. The Philadelphia Eagles. With the pick, they selected the explosive and dynamic quarterback out of Louisville, Lamar Freakin’ Jackson. Jackson has a chip on his shoulder after having a smear report against him for acting as his own agent has been on of the biggest factors on why he has falled, I can’t wait to see him duel it out with Baker Mayfield for  years to come.

The biggest loser in my opinion is the Washington Redskins and their selection of Alabama defensive tackle Da’Ron Payne when Derwin James was still on the board. The Refskins constantly make stupid decisions that I always try to brush off, but last night was the last straw. I’m officially on the clock for a new team to support.

Notable prospects still available to draft include Shaquem Griffin, Josh Jackson, Maurice Hearst, and many more notable prospects.

The NFL Draft will run through Saturday and will be televised on NFL Network, Fox, & ABC. If you want to rant about who your team selected and who you think they should have selected, you can comment below in the comments section.
